Museu Franciscano de Arte Sacra, Sacred art museum in Santo Antonio district, Recife, Brazil.
The Franciscan Museum of Sacred Art exhibits religious artworks, including baroque statues, golden altars, and precious metal ceremonial objects within a historic convent.
Established in 1974 by Brother Fernando Pio dos Santos, the museum preserves religious artifacts within the Church of the Third Order of Saint Francis.
The collection contains the first Sacred Heart of Jesus statue in Pernambuco, brought by Father Gabriel Malagrida, along with Ash Wednesday procession images from 1709.
The museum occupies the same complex as the Golden Chapel of Recife, allowing visitors to explore both religious heritage sites during their visit.
A gilded altar from 1804 displays Saint Francis receiving stigmata from Jesus Christ, representing a central piece in the museum collection.
