Cinema São Luiz, Art Deco movie theater in central Recife, Brazil
Cinema São Luiz features a grand auditorium decorated with golden, red, and green reliefs, accommodating 800 viewers across two levels with a balcony section.
The theater opened in 1952 on the site of a former Anglican chapel, operating continuously until 2007 before reopening in 2009 after extensive restoration.
The entrance hall displays a notable mural by Pernambuco artist Lula Cardoso Ayres and stained glass windows by Aurora de Lima depicting flower vases.
The theater utilizes a Barco 23B 4K digital projector for 3D capabilities and Dolby 7.1 sound system, delivering current cinema technology standards.
Located within the first four floors of the fourteen-story Duarte Coelho Building, this theater incorporates marble flooring and jatoba wood wall coverings.
