Prainha

Prainha is a beach in Aquiraz that stretches along the coast with white sand bordered by tall palm trees and Atlantic waters. The shoreline features natural areas that create varied settings for visitors to explore and enjoy.

The region of Aquiraz became the first European settlement in Ceara state, founded by Portuguese settlers in the early 1700s. This early presence shaped the development of the entire coastal region for centuries to come.

Local fishermen still use traditional wooden boats called jangadas to bring in daily catches using methods passed down for generations. This work shapes the everyday rhythm of the beach and reflects a way of life deeply connected to the sea.

The beach lies about 40 minutes by car from Fortaleza and is accessible via regular bus services from the central terminal. Visitors should come prepared for open beach conditions and bring appropriate sun protection gear.

At low tide, coral reefs create natural pools that form protected areas perfect for swimming and snorkeling in shallow waters. These formations are shaped by the coastline's geology and offer visitors something beyond what most beaches provide.
