The construction announcement came during the 179th Semiannual General Conference in October 2009, with groundbreaking ceremonies taking place on November 15, 2011.
The temple interior incorporates Brazilian design elements, including local Branco Ceara granite surfaces and decorative patterns inspired by native orchids and vines.
Located at Avenida Santos Dumont 7771, the temple complex includes a meetinghouse, apartments for temple workers, and complete wheelchair accessibility throughout the facilities.
This religious structure stands as the first temple in the state of Ceará and the seventh constructed in Brazil by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
