Praia do Meireles

Praia do Meireles is an urban beach with wide sandy shores lined with palm trees and a paved promenade that runs along the waterfront. A row of modern buildings including hotels, restaurants, and shops sits directly behind the beach.

The area began as a small fishing settlement before developing into a major coastal destination during the second half of the twentieth century. This transformation shaped it into one of Fortaleza's primary tourism centers today.

Local artisans sell handmade goods from straw and seashells at stands along the shore. This craft tradition reflects how communities here are linked to the ocean and its resources.

The beach is comfortable to visit during most of the year, though summer months bring stronger heat and humidity. Visitors can easily navigate using the wide promenade and explore different sections on foot.

Military parades and festivals happen throughout the year at this location, bringing together locals and visitors for public celebrations. These events make the shore a gathering place for community occasions and special gatherings.
