Museu da Indústria do Ceará

Museu da Indústria do Ceará occupies a restored 19th-century building in central Fortaleza and offers over 2,000 square meters (21,500 sq ft) of exhibition space. The galleries display machinery, documents, and artifacts spanning five centuries of local manufacturing heritage.

The building originally functioned as a hotel before becoming post office headquarters starting in the 1890s, then housed a major power company for decades. These successive roles reflect the city's industrial boom period.

The collections tell how manufacturing shaped the city and remains woven into local identity today. Visitors encounter old machinery and tools that still speak to this heritage.

The museum offers guided tours through exhibitions and maintains a research area with extensive documentation available to visitors. Depending on your interest, you can spend time exploring galleries or using the research facilities.
