Palácio da Luz, Literary academy palace in Centro, Fortaleza, Brazil
The Palácio da Luz exhibits Portuguese colonial architecture with a polygonal structure facing Rua Sena Madureira, Praça General Tibúrcio, and Rua do Rosário.
Built in the late 18th century using indigenous labor, the palace served as the residence of captain-major Antonio de Castro Viana before becoming government headquarters.
The palace contains a library of 15,000 books and functions as the headquarters of the Ceará Academy of Letters, supporting regional literary activities.
Located at Rua do Rosário 1 in central Fortaleza, the palace offers access to literary resources and cultural programs throughout the year.
The building underwent multiple transformations, including the construction of a 384-palm-long wall in 1847 that created a public promenade space.
