National Museum of Namibia

The museum opened in 1990 following Namibia's independence, transforming a former German colonial fort constructed between 1890 and 1915 into a national institution.

The museum exhibits include traditional artifacts, rock art reproductions, and collections that represent the diverse heritage of Namibian ethnic groups.

Visitors can access the museum through Robert Mugabe Avenue, with guided tours available and a collection of railway engines displayed in the outdoor area.

The institution houses zoological specimens, archaeological findings, and maintains specialized departments covering fields from entomology to mammalogy under expert curators.
