Skeleton Coast National Park

The park extends along 16,845 square kilometers of Atlantic coastline, featuring vast sand dunes, rock formations, and numerous ship remnants scattered across beaches.

The Skeleton Coast National Park, established in 1971, gained its name from the countless shipwrecks that occurred due to dense fog and strong currents.

The northern section of the park maintains the traditions of guided safaris, limiting access to preserve the natural environment of this remote region.

Visitors require permits and four-wheel-drive vehicles to access the southern section, while the northern area remains restricted to authorized safari operators.

The park contains the Southwest Seal shipwreck from 1976, among many vessels that met their end in these waters.
