Durban South Africa Temple

The Durban South Africa Temple is a modern religious building with a marble exterior located in Umhlanga. It rises approximately 97 feet (30 meters) high and features a tower topped with an angel Moroni statue.

Construction of the temple began with a groundbreaking ceremony in April 2016 and the building was dedicated in February 2020. The project developed in response to the growing needs of the religious community in the region.

The interior showcases Sapele mahogany woodwork and Italian marble floors with African tribal geometric patterns throughout. These design choices connect modern architecture with local artistic traditions.

The temple sits on Izinga Drive in Umhlanga and provides various facilities for visitors. Services are held in multiple languages to welcome diverse communities.

The temple grounds contain over 800 trees, including king palms and coral trees, creating a park-like garden. This landscaping provides a green retreat within the modern architectural setting.
