Kasai Province

Kasai is a province in southwestern Democratic Republic of the Congo comprising five administrative territories with multiple settlements spread throughout. The Kasai River flows through the region, serving as a natural feature connecting the scattered communities.

The province was created in 2015 through a territorial reorganization that divided the former Kasai-Occidental region into separate administrative areas. This administrative change established the current structure of the province.

French serves as the official language here, while Tshiluba remains the main local language spoken by residents in everyday life.

The region operates on Central Africa Time, which is helpful to know when planning visits. Vehicles here bear registration plates marked with the code CGO 08 for identification purposes.

Many schools across the region suffered damage or military occupation during recent armed conflicts, disrupting education for numerous children. This ongoing situation continues to affect schooling conditions today.
