Garden of Perfumes and Spices, Botanical garden in Saint-Philippe, Réunion Island, France
The Garden of Perfumes and Spices displays 1,500 plant species across 30 hectares of land, including vanilla trees, cardamom, and endemic plants from Réunion Island.
The garden site dates back to 1783 when Joseph Hubert identified the area's volcanic soil and humid climate as perfect for spice cultivation.
Local guides lead visitors through sections dedicated to aromatic plants, explaining their roles in Creole cuisine and traditional medicinal practices.
Two guided tours operate daily at 10:30 AM and 2:30 PM, with adult tickets priced at 10 euros and children's tickets at 6.50 euros.
The garden produces and sells various products from its plants, including coffee, vanilla, turmeric, pepper, ginger, essential oils, and local jams.
