Sentul International Circuit, Motorsport racing track in Sentul, Indonesia
Sentul International Circuit is a motorsport racing track in Sentul, Indonesia, stretching nearly 4 kilometers with 11 corners of varying radii. The main straight measures around 900 meters and allows vehicles to reach high speeds before braking into the first turn.
The complex opened in August 1993 and was at the time the first circuit outside Japan in Asia built to Formula One standards. Hutomo Mandala Putra, son of then-president Suharto, launched the project.
The venue takes its name from the Sentul area and now serves as a home for domestic and regional motor racing championships. Drivers from across the country come here to train and compete on this track.
The facility has 50 pit garages and two covered grandstands that offer visitors protection from sun and rain. Due to the tropical climate, it makes sense to wear light clothing and bring enough water.
The proximity to the Jonggol Mountains brings cooler air than in other parts of the country, making a noticeable difference for drivers and machines during longer races. This location helped the track establish itself as a preferred venue in the region.
