Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II Museum

This nineteenth-century museum building combines European architectural elements with traditional Indonesian design features along the Musi River banks.

The museum stands on the former palace site of Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin I, which British forces demolished in 1823 during colonial conflicts.

The museum collection presents South Sumatran textiles, traditional weapons, regional costumes, local handicrafts, and ancient coins from different periods.

Located at Jalan Sultan Mahmud Badarudin 19, the museum offers guided tours through exhibits that detail the evolution of Palembang's society.

The museum gardens contain artifacts from the Srivijayan period, including preserved statues of Ganesha and Buddha from ancient kingdoms.
