Ujung Water Palace, Royal water palace in Karangasem, Indonesia

Three large water pools surround white colonial buildings connected by decorated bridges within a 12-hectare garden complex near the Bali coast.

King Agung Anglurah Ketut Karangasem commissioned the construction between 1909 and 1921, incorporating designs from Dutch architect van Den Hentz and Chinese architect Loto Ang.

The architecture merges Balinese traditions with Dutch colonial elements and Chinese influences, visible in the floating pavilions and ornate stone carvings.

The palace opens daily from 7 AM to 7 PM with an entrance fee of 100,000 IDR for international visitors and reduced rates for domestic tourists.

Mount Agung volcano's 1963 eruption and a 1979 earthquake damaged the palace, leading to extensive renovations between 1998 and 2001.
