Amban Beach

Amban Beach is a black-sand shoreline stretching roughly one kilometer along the northeast tip of the Bird's Head Peninsula. Tropical forests and wetlands frame the coast, creating a natural, undeveloped landscape.

Volcanic black sand combined with regular two-meter waves makes this a notable surfing spot in West Papua that many travelers overlook. Few realize the area offers quality water conditions comparable to more famous regional breaks.
