Three Kings Cathedral, Catholic cathedral in Timika, Indonesia
The Three Kings Cathedral rises 55 meters high and contains a central nave with sufficient space to accommodate 2000 worshippers during services.
Pope John Paul II established the Diocese of Timika in 2003 through the papal bull Supernum evangelizationis, leading to the cathedral construction from 2004 to 2005.
The cathedral structure incorporates design elements that represent the local Papua traditions while maintaining the standard Catholic architectural principles.
The religious complex includes a new multifunctional hall under development with a budget of 6.49 billion Indonesian rupiah for community activities.
In 2015, the cathedral became the site of a significant incident when Indonesian military forces entered the premises, resulting in two casualties.
