Construction of the facility began in December 2016 and reached completion in May 2019, with an investment of 1.3 trillion Indonesian rupiah.
The exterior features 50 triangular sails, including 34 smaller ones along the curves and 16 taller structures that incorporate traditional Papuan design elements.
Located 8.9 kilometers from Sentani International Airport, the stadium maintains international standard facilities with LED DMX lighting and digital scoreboards.
The playing surface uses Zoysia Matrella grass and includes an IAAF class 1 certified athletic track for multiple sports competitions.
