Bernouilli Conservation Reserve, Nature reserve in Cape Jaffa, South Australia.
Bernouilli Conservation Reserve is a protected coastal area in South Australia covering approximately 266 hectares of land near Cape Jaffa. The area spans multiple sections in Mount Benson and consists of tall shrubland, coast wattle, and coast beard-heath vegetation.
This protected area was established by the Department of Environment in November 1993 to safeguard its natural features. It was named after Cap Bernouilli, the historical name for the headland at Cape Jaffa.
This reserve serves as a refuge for bird species that depend on its coastal and dune habitats to survive and raise their young. Visitors may spot species such as the hooded plover and orange-bellied parrot, which have adapted to the salt spray and windswept vegetation of this environment.
The reserve lies southwest of Kingston SE and remains open year-round to visitors at no cost. Access is straightforward and the location stays accessible throughout all seasons.
The area hosts an evenly balanced mix of passerine and non-passerine bird species, with roughly 21 species from each group present. This distribution makes it a notable location for bird watching enthusiasts in the region.
