Big Heath Conservation Park

Big Heath Conservation Park extends across 2,472 hectares of varied landscapes, including eucalypt woodlands, limestone outcrops, and dense heath vegetation.

The park transformed from a wildlife reserve established in 1964 to a conservation park in 1972, with additional land sections added in 1993 and 2010.

The park serves as a monitoring site for 144 bird species, contributing to regional ecological research and environmental preservation efforts.

Located 20 kilometers southwest of Naracoorte, the park maintains several walking paths through different vegetation zones and geological formations.

Deep depressions throughout the park create distinct environments where sedges form rings around the basins, while River Red Gums populate the southeastern sections.
