Wang Wang and Fu Ni, Giant panda pair in Adelaide, Australia
Wang Wang and Fu Ni are a giant panda pair living at Adelaide Zoo in specialized enclosures built for their needs. They follow daily care routines and eat primarily bamboo, which the zoo supplies continuously from its dedicated growing area.
The pair arrived in November 2009 from China's Wolong Research Centre as part of an international conservation agreement. This marked the start of a long-term partnership between Australia and China focused on panda protection.
The pair draws visitors who come specifically to watch them eat bamboo and rest throughout the day, making them central to the zoo experience. Many people travel from far away just to see these animals in person.
The pandas are most active in early morning and late afternoon when temperatures are cooler. Plan to spend time watching them at different times, as they often stay in one area for extended periods while eating or resting.
These two are the only giant pandas on the entire Southern Hemisphere, making Adelaide the only place in this region where the species can be seen. Their rarity here makes them especially notable for zoo visitors.
