Windsor

Windsor is an administrative district in the City of Stonnington, located about 5 kilometers (3 miles) southeast of Melbourne's center. The area is densely populated with residential neighborhoods featuring mixed architectural styles.

The area was renamed from Prahran South to Windsor in 1891 after developing as part of a larger settlement. This name change marked a shift in how the district identified itself.

The population reflects multicultural origins with 62.1 percent Australian-born residents plus communities from England, Greece, New Zealand, China, and Ireland.

The area connects well to Melbourne through several tram routes on Dandenong Road, High Street, and Chapel Street, as well as the Windsor station on the Sandringham railway line. Visitors can easily reach and explore the neighborhood using public transport.

It is the smallest suburb within the Stonnington administration while maintaining a complete range of urban services. Despite its compact size, the district has schools, shops, and community facilities that serve residents well.
