Malvern Presbyterian Church, Melbourne, Heritage-listed Presbyterian church in Malvern, Australia.
Malvern Presbyterian Church is a brick church building in Malvern featuring design elements from the Arts and Crafts movement. The interior displays Gothic tracery windows, timber furnishings, and an auditorium capable of seating around 520 worshippers.
The wooden church structure dating from 1886 was replaced in 1906 by the current brick building, designed by architect Robert Joseph Haddon. This replacement marked the congregation's growth and increasing permanence in the community.
The congregation reflects Presbyterian traditions through its interior arrangement, furnishings, and shared use by a Chinese Presbyterian community that has worshipped here since 1984. Visitors can observe how different groups have adapted the space to their spiritual practices over the decades.
The building is readily visible from the street and straightforward to access, with clear orientation for visitors. The large interior space accommodates various occasions and community activities comfortably.
A World War I memorial from 1921, also designed by architect Haddon, honors congregation members who served in the conflict. This combined purpose as both house of worship and memorial gives the building a dual social significance.
