Station Trail
Station Trail is a bike path in Victoria that follows an abandoned railway line through open fields and patches of woodland on mostly flat terrain. The route connects several small towns and features a smooth, well-marked surface of bitumen and crushed gravel suitable for riders of all abilities.
The line operated as an active railway from the early to mid-1900s, transporting goods and passengers between rural communities and supporting their economic development. After closure, the corridor was converted into a public recreation route that preserves historic infrastructure including old stations and bridges.
The trail follows an old railway line that once connected regional communities and supported their growth. Today it serves as a shared space where locals and visitors experience the countryside together, creating a sense of continuity between past settlement patterns and modern leisure.
The route is easily reached from nearby towns with access points at several locations that have parking and old stations where you might find historic displays. Bring water, suitable footwear, and sun protection, and plan visits for earlier in the day or during cooler seasons since the path is popular on weekends.
Along the route are small stops called Sip n Cycle cafes where you can enjoy drinks and snacks while watching the scenery without fully stopping your journey. These spots blend cycling with local leisure, creating an experience that goes beyond just riding through the landscape.
