Clark, Electoral division in Hobart, Australia
Clark is an electoral division of the Australian House of Representatives located in Tasmania. It covers the western side of the Derwent River valley, taking in Hobart and Glenorchy along with surrounding suburban and rural communities.
The division received its name from Andrew Inglis Clark, a 19th-century Tasmanian jurist who played a key role in drafting the Australian Constitution. It was established in its current form in 2019 following a redistribution of electoral boundaries.
The electoral system in Clark follows the Hare-Clark method, where voters select multiple representatives through a proportional voting mechanism.
The division is easily accessible through Hobart's established infrastructure and public transportation networks that connect the main towns. Most areas can be visited by car or using local buses that run throughout the communities within the region.
Clark replaced the former division of Denison in 2019, marking a shift from commemorating a supporter of convict transportation to honoring a constitutional architect.
