Mount Aspiring National Park, National park in South Island, New Zealand
Mount Aspiring National Park extends over 3,555 square kilometers at the southern end of the Southern Alps, featuring snow-capped peaks and glacial valleys.
The park gained official national park status in 1964, becoming New Zealand's tenth national park and received UNESCO World Heritage recognition in 1990.
The indigenous Maori people named the central peak Tititea, meaning steep white peak, reflecting their connection to this mountainous landscape.
Visitors can access the park through Haast Pass Highway in the northeast or State Highway 6 in the northwest, with nearby towns of Wanaka and Queenstown.
The Rob Roy Glacier Track leads hikers through beech forests to viewing points of active glaciers, waterfalls, and the 3,033-meter Mount Aspiring peak.
