The Australian Hotel is a two-story brick building with an iron roof located at 100 Cumberland Street in The Rocks district. The ground floor features shops while upper areas contain the dining and accommodation spaces.
The building has operated continuously as a hotel since 1824 when George Morris received the first license. It has remained an established fixture in this historic district for more than 200 years.
The venue serves traditional Australian dishes and hosts a large selection of craft beers from across the country. Local flavors and ingredients define the dining experience here.
The venue sits centrally in The Rocks and is easy to reach on foot when walking through the district's narrow lanes. Keep in mind the area has cobblestone streets and interior passages can be tight when moving between levels.
The rooftop offers a direct view of Sydney Harbor fireworks on New Year's Eve. Visitors gather on December 31st to ring in the new year with one of the best vantage points for the fireworks display.
