White Rabbit Gallery is an art space in Chippendale housed in a renovated 1940s building that once served as a Rolls-Royce service depot. The venue spans multiple levels and displays a substantial collection of contemporary Chinese artworks in different media and formats.
The building originally functioned as a service depot for Rolls-Royce vehicles before being transformed into an art space. The collection that fills it today grew from acquisitions gathered over time by its founder in China during the late 1990s.
The gallery displays works by contemporary Chinese artists across paintings, sculptures, installations, and video art from the 2000s onward. Walking through the rooms, you encounter diverse perspectives and creative approaches that reflect how artists today are expressing themselves.
Entry to the gallery is free, and you can explore the exhibitions at your own pace across the multiple levels. There is also a teahouse on-site where you can rest and enjoy refreshments between viewing the artworks.
The exhibitions rotate twice a year, meaning different artworks from the collection appear with each visit. This approach allows repeat visitors to discover new selections from the holdings without seeing the same display twice.
