Rona, Bellevue Hill

Rona is a sandstone mansion on the north-facing slope of Bellevue Hill featuring Gothic Revival design from the Victorian era. The two-story building was later divided into two separate apartments while keeping its original character.

Edward Knox, founder of CSR Limited, built Rona in 1883 as a country mansion on an estate originally sub-leased from Frederick Tooth. The property changed hands several times over the following decades.

The sandstone mansion reflects the architectural preferences of wealthy Sydney residents in the late 1800s. It remains part of the neighborhood's character and shows how prosperous families expressed their status through design choices.

The house sits on a north-facing slope and is accessible by car from the city center. Private arrangements are needed to view the property since it remains a residential building.

The property sold for a record price in 2018 that ranked it among Australia's most expensive homes at the time. This sale brought international attention to it as a symbol of Sydney luxury real estate.
