The 47-meter-high beach stretches between two headlands, featuring golden sand and a small creek at the northern section of the shoreline.
In 1818, Governor Macquarie granted 50 acres to Thomas Bruin, establishing the foundation for what would become Freshwater Beach and its surroundings.
Duke Kahanamoku introduced surfboard riding to Australia at Freshwater Beach in 1915, using a board crafted from local timber.
The beach includes an eight-lane saltwater pool, changing facilities, paid parking areas, and numerous restaurants overlooking the ocean.
A tunnel called the Wormhole connects Freshwater Beach to Manly Beach through a path carved into the coastal rock formation.
