Yeronga Park, Heritage listed recreational park in Brisbane, Australia.
Yeronga Park is a heritage-listed recreational space in Brisbane with mature trees including weeping figs and flame trees scattered along its pathways. The grounds feature heated swimming pools, tennis courts, croquet lawns, rugby fields, and cricket grounds positioned throughout the site.
The park was established in 1882 and later served as Camp Yeronga during World War II to accommodate American military units with temporary buildings. After the war, it was converted back into a public recreational space while retaining its historical legacy.
The memorial pavilion contains marble tablets honouring local residents lost in World War I. Walking through the park, you encounter spaces dedicated to remembering those who served.
The park is easy to navigate with well-maintained pathways connecting different sporting areas and recreational zones. Come prepared with appropriate clothing for the season and bring water, especially if you plan to spend time in the open areas.
Honour Avenue holds 96 memorial trees planted between 1917 and 1919, each tree honouring a local soldier who died in service. This living memorial has become a moving place where visitors connect with the stories of those remembered.
