Hefferan Park Air Raid Shelter, World War II air raid shelter in Annerley, Australia.
The rectangular concrete structure at 260 Annerley Road features a flat green roof and red and white painted piers with diagonal patterned flooring.
Built in 1942 by Brisbane City Council, this shelter formed part of 235 public protection structures during World War II when Japanese attacks threatened Australia.
The structure demonstrates the wartime experience of Brisbane residents and represents one of only 21 remaining public air raid shelters in the city.
Located adjacent to a playground beneath fig trees, the shelter maintains its structural integrity and serves as a public park facility.
Architect F.G. Costello designed this shelter with specific features that allowed its transformation from a defense structure to a permanent community facility.
