Woolloongabba Post Office

The Woolloongabba Post Office is a two-story masonry building on Stanley Street with classical architectural elements including a corner tower and decorative rendered walls. The structure was designed to house postal services on the ground floor and office spaces on the upper level.

The building was erected in 1905 under architect Thomas Pye's supervision, replacing an earlier post office that operated from rented premises on Logan Road beginning in 1887. This new structure was part of Queensland's growing infrastructure to support its expanding population.

The building shows how post offices once served as community gathering points where people exchanged news and conducted important business in person. Its formal design reflects the significance these institutions held in local life.
