Taylor-Heaslop Building, Heritage commercial building in Woolloongabba, Australia.
The Taylor-Heaslop Building is a three-story masonry structure on Logan Road containing three separate shop spaces at ground level. Each storefront features its own entrance and distinctive decorative elements across the brick facade.
The building was constructed between 1889 and 1890 during Brisbane's period of economic expansion at that time. The People's Cash Store operated by brothers James and Thomas Heaslop was one of the three original shops located here.
The building served as a vital trading hub where shopkeepers supplied goods to the surrounding neighborhood. The storefronts still reveal the care that business owners invested in presenting their enterprises to passing customers.
The building stands on Logan Road in the northern part of the Woolloongabba district and is easily accessible on foot. The facade is clearly visible from the street and works well for photography and observing architectural details.
The building was designed by John Beauchamp Nicholson, an architect whose other works significantly shaped Brisbane's appearance. His work on this project displays his skill in combining functional shop spaces with sophisticated decorative design.
