Glass House Mountains National Park, Nature reserve in Sunshine Coast Regional, Australia

Glass House Mountains National Park is a nature reserve featuring eleven volcanic peaks that rise prominently from the surrounding Queensland landscape. These mountains are ringed by pine forests and grazing lands, creating a distinctive formation visible from many directions.

These mountains formed around 25 million years ago from volcanic activity, when molten rock cooled into the vertical structures that dominate the landscape today. This ancient geological event shaped what visitors see now.

The Kabi Kabi and Jinibara peoples hold this area as sacred, with several protected sites that remain central to their spiritual practices and ceremonies.

Walking trails are marked and lead through forests with views of the surrounding peaks and plains. Bring plenty of water and wear sturdy shoes, as the paths can be steep and exposed to sun.

The park is home to Australia's only certified organic camel dairy farm, where visitors can interact with the animals against the backdrop of volcanic peaks. This unusual combination of wildlife and farming draws curious travelers looking for something different.
