The site features two lighthouses: a timber-framed structure from 1896 and a concrete tower built in 1968 at Canberra Terrace.
The original lighthouse guided ships through the North West Channel into Moreton Bay, marking the safest route to Brisbane's port since 1896.
The first lighthouse building served multiple functions for the community, operating as the area's first school and post office.
The Friends of Caloundra Lighthouses organization conducts guided tours on the second and fourth Saturday monthly from 9 AM to 3 PM.
The 1896 lighthouse produced the most powerful beam along Queensland's coast after receiving upgraded light apparatus in 1910.
