Tenaru Falls

Tenaru Falls is a waterfall on Guadalcanal that drops about 63 meters through thick rainforest, crashing over natural rock ledges. The water creates several smaller cascades before collecting in a quiet pool at the base.

This waterfall sits in an area that saw military activity during World War II, when fighting occurred near the Tenaru River. Remnants of that period still exist in the surrounding landscape.

Local villagers maintain traditional customs regarding waterfall access, requiring visitors to obtain specific permissions from community leaders before approaching the site.

Reaching this waterfall takes about four hours for a round trip hike, with multiple river crossings along the way, so sturdy shoes and waterproof gear are needed. Starting early and bringing water and snacks will make the walk more comfortable.
