Waimanalo Beach, Sandy beach in Honolulu County, United States

Waimanalo Beach is a 5.5-mile-long sandy shoreline on Oahu's windward coast, known for its white sand and calm shallow waters. The beach curves gently along the coastline and features multiple entry points with parking areas and facilities distributed along its length.

On December 8, 1941, this shoreline witnessed a pivotal World War II moment when Kazuo Sakamaki was captured here. This event made the location historically significant in the broader context of the Pacific campaign.

Local Native Hawaiian families continue traditional fishing and gathering practices along the water's edge. These customs remain visible to visitors as an integral part of how the community connects with the ocean and their heritage.

The beach is easily accessible from Kalanianaole Highway, with parking areas and facilities available throughout the length. Conditions and water currents vary with the season, so visitors should check local information before planning their visit.

The Anderson Estate, an oceanfront property within the beach area, served as the filming location for the television series Magnum P.I. Fans of the show often visit to see where their favorite scenes were shot.
