Kailua Beach is a long white-sand shoreline along Kailua Bay on the windward coast of Oahu, in Honolulu County, Hawaii. The seabed slopes gently into the bay, and shallow water near offshore reefs gives separate zones for swimming, paddling and other water sports. The bay lies about 7,800 km southwest of Washington, D.C., and the area has an arid climate with an average temperature of 22 °C, ranging from 20 °C in January to 24 °C in July.

The bay area held importance for Hawaiian communities for centuries before becoming a tourist destination in the 1900s. The region transformed from a quiet, sparsely populated place into a popular beach destination over recent decades.
