Lahaina Banyan Court Park, Public park in Lahaina, United States.
Lahaina Banyan Court Park is a public green space anchored by a massive banyan tree that spreads across much of the grounds, creating a shaded center point for the location. The park sits between Front Street and Canal Street and includes the old courthouse building among its features.
The site once held Fort Lahaina, built in 1831 to keep order and manage the sailors who came through the port. The banyan tree was planted afterward and became the new focal point of the grounds.
The courthouse building within the grounds hosts local art groups and exhibitions about Hawaiian heritage, showing how the island's past comes alive through the works and stories displayed there.
The park is free to enter and centrally located downtown, making it easy to reach. Public restrooms are nearby at the harbor, and you can find parking on the surrounding streets.
The banyan tree was planted in 1873 and is now over a hundred years old, with multiple strong trunks rising from the ground and casting shade across much of the park. The root structure makes this tree an unusual sight you won't find elsewhere.
