Iao Valley

Iao Valley is a natural landmark on Maui featuring dense rainforest and a prominent needle-shaped lava rock formation rising from the ground. A stream runs through the valley, and thick vegetation covers the slopes and surrounding areas around this striking formation.

The valley was the site of a significant battle in 1790 where Kamehameha I defeated his opponents and marked a turning point in Hawaiian history. This event helped Kamehameha secure power across the islands.
