Ahupua'a O Kahana State Park, Traditional Hawaiian land division in northeastern Oahu, United States.

The park extends over 5,300 acres from Kahana Bay to the Ko'olau Mountains, featuring dense forests, waterfalls, and coastal areas.

Before Western contact, Kahana Valley supported a community through fishing and farming, utilizing fresh water and fertile soil for kalo cultivation.

Thirty-one families reside within the park boundaries to maintain Hawaiian traditions and provide interpretive programs about local values and lifestyle.

Visitors can explore two trails: the one-mile Kapa'ele'ele Ko'a loop and the 2.5-mile Nakoa Trail through tropical rainforest.

The park receives between 75 and 300 inches of annual rainfall, making it among the wettest locations on Oahu.

Hawaii: natural sites, beaches and historical places

The Hawaiian Islands offer beaches with white, black, and red sand, formed through volcanic activity and coral erosion. Coastal areas display tide pools, sea caves, and lava formations. Inland, hiking trails lead through rainforest valleys to waterfalls and historic Heiau temples, which served as ceremonial sites for the Polynesian inhabitants. The volcanic geology has created lava tubes, craters, and calderas that are now accessible to visitors. Botanical gardens preserve native plant species, while archaeological sites like ancient settlements and petroglyph fields provide insights into pre-European history. The islands also feature limestone caves with marine fossils and reefs suitable for snorkeling.
