Mount Marathon, Mountain and summit destination in Seward, Alaska

Mount Marathon, officially Marathon Mountain, is a 4,826-foot (1,471 m) summit in the Kenai Mountains of Chugach National Forest, rising directly west of Seward above Resurrection Bay. It stands 2.35 mi south of Mount Benson and 2 mi north of Bear Mountain. Spruce and hemlock forest covers its lower slopes.

The Mount Marathon Race has been run on the mountain every Fourth of July, giving the peak its name; the summit is officially Marathon Mountain. The 4,826-foot peak rises directly west of Seward in the Kenai Mountains, within Chugach National Forest, above Resurrection Bay.
