Anchorage Alaska Temple, Mormon temple in south Anchorage, United States.
Anchorage Alaska Temple is a church building in south Anchorage with walls of gray and white quartz-flecked granite. A single spire topped with an angel Moroni statue rises from the roof.
The temple opened in 1999 as Alaska's first Latter-day Saint house of worship, completed in just nine months from groundbreaking. This established the church's first permanent religious center in the state.
The granite exterior displays the seven stars of the Big Dipper and the North Star, elements taken from Alaska's state flag. This design weaves local identity into the building's spiritual purpose.
The building sits in a residential neighborhood and is accessible via Brayton Drive. Visitors should prepare for cold weather and expect limited access during winter months.
The structure will undergo major expansion beginning in 2024, growing from around 11,000 to 30,000 square feet. The original building remains partially in operation throughout this transformation.
