Mount Bona, Stratovolcano in Saint Elias Mountains, Alaska, United States

Mount Bona rises to 16,421 feet as the fifth highest independent peak in the United States, covered by extensive icefields and glaciers.

Prince Luigi Amedeo discovered and named Mount Bona after his racing yacht while climbing Mount Saint Elias in 1897, located 80 miles southeast.

The mountain forms part of Wrangell-St Elias National Park, designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its geological and natural importance.

Climbers access Mount Bona through McCarthy, Alaska, requiring specialized glacier climbing equipment and experience to navigate the technical East Ridge route.

The summit contains a small stratovolcano atop sedimentary rocks, making it the highest volcano in the United States and fourth highest in North America.
