Mount Steele, Mountain peak in Saint Elias Mountains, Canada.

Mount Steele rises 5,073 meters above sea level, making it the fifth highest mountain in Canada and tenth highest peak in North America.

Walter A. Wood and his expedition team completed the first ascent of Mount Steele in August 1935, approaching from the eastern side through heavy snow.

The mountain received its name in honor of Sam Steele, a North-West Mounted Police officer who maintained order during the Klondike Gold Rush.

The mountain requires advanced glacier and ice climbing techniques, with limited climbing opportunities due to extreme weather conditions throughout the year.

A massive avalanche in July 2007 caused 3,000,000 cubic meters of ice to collapse from the north face of Mount Steele.
