Sierra de Órganos National Park, National park and UNESCO World Heritage Site in Sombrerete, Mexico.
Sierra de Órganos National Park is located in Zacatecas and features towering rock formations that rise vertically like massive stone pipes from the earth. These columns were shaped over millions of years by erosion and dominate the landscape.
The national park was established in 2000 and recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The site is part of the historic El Camino Real de Tierra Adentro route, which connected colonial trade paths.
The park served as a filming location for many Western movies shot during the 1950s and 1960s. Visitors today can see the same rock formations that attracted filmmakers from around the world.
Visitors reach the park via a dirt road from Highway 45. Hiking trails and camping areas are available throughout the protected zone.
The rock columns reach heights between 75 and 100 meters and formed over millions of years of erosion. These natural structures rank among the highest and best-developed organ pipe formations in North America.
