Crypto.com Arena, Indoor sports arena in Downtown Los Angeles, US.
Crypto.com Arena is a multi-purpose hall in Downtown Los Angeles that hosts ice hockey, basketball, concerts and major events. The facility covers about 950,000 square feet (88,000 square meters) and offers 160 luxury suites along with an arena floor measuring 94 by 200 feet (29 by 61 meters).
The arena opened on October 17, 1999, under the name Staples Center and quickly became a central venue for sports teams and major events in Southern California. In December 2021 the name changed to Crypto.com Arena following a new sponsorship agreement.
Star Plaza displays bronze statues of legends who played for Los Angeles teams, and fans gather there to take photos and pay respect to their heroes. On game days the entire surrounding area fills with people wearing team jerseys who meet before doors open, share food and drinks, and experience the build-up together.
The venue hosts around 240 events per year, and the box office opens every Tuesday plus three hours before each event. Visitors should arrive early because security checks take time and the surrounding area gets busy on event days.
Since 2000 this place has hosted the Grammy Awards more often than any other venue, giving it a permanent spot in music history. The acoustics and technical equipment were designed specifically for large live music productions.
