The casino's name comes from the city of Commerce, which it helped fund: it supplied 38% of the city's tax revenue in the 2006-2007 fiscal year and $22 million a year in licensing fees by 2016. Its annual tournament calendar opens with the Los Angeles Poker Classic, running from January into early March with a World Poker Tour event.
The Racebook opened in July 2009, with satellite wagering on California and eastern U.S. tracks. Non-poker games are player-banked under California law, so players bet against each other, not the house, and the casino charges a collection of about 1% of the wager. A home-game group can be brought in and given instruction, dealers, a pit boss, cards and chips.
The casino's non-poker games are player-banked: under California law players bet against each other, never against the house, and the casino earns through rent from a third-party provider plus a collection of about 1% of each bet. Regular bankers without a casino contract are barred.
