Saddleback College, Community college in Mission Viejo, California.
Saddleback College is a public community college spread across about 200 acres with classroom buildings, sports facilities, and a bus terminal on site. The campus serves as a transportation hub for the Orange County Transportation Authority.
The college was established in 1968 and named after the distinctive saddle formation between Santiago Peak and Modjeska Peak in Cleveland National Forest. This geographic feature shaped the identity of the new institution.
The college runs KSBR, a commercial-free jazz radio station that broadcasts throughout the Los Angeles area, and publishes the Lariat student newspaper that covers what happens on campus.
Visitors find a spacious campus with clear signage and easy access to the bus terminal. Ample parking is available throughout the grounds, and the flat terrain makes it simple to walk around.
The campus features a Veterans Memorial completed in 2010 that honors military service members enrolled at the institution. This memorial serves as a quiet place to recognize the contributions of those who served.
